Robert “Bob” Volz, age 91, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 12, 1933, in St. Louis, Bob was a lifelong resident of the city he cherished. He graduated from Ritenour High School in 1951 and soon after married his childhood sweetheart, Janet Briner. Together, they shared 71 years of devoted marriage, raising a close-knit family grounded in love, faith, and service. Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he built a successful career as a civil engineer, contributing to the development of numerous commercial and residential projects throughout the region. He was admired for his dedication, precision, and integrity.
A man of deep Christian faith, Bob was actively involved in his church and community, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His quiet strength and unwavering kindness touched the lives of many.
Bob is survived by his beloved Wife, Janet Volz; his children: Susan Maddox (Herb), Sharon Boggiano (Mark), David Volz (Katherine), and Robert Volz (Becky); eighteen grandchildren and thirty-nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Wilhelmina Volz; his brother, Sylvester T. Volz, Jr., Donald Volz; and his son, Steven Volz.
Bob’s legacy of love, humility, and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service was be held on Tuesday, August 5, at Kriegshauser Mortuary-West Chapel, 9450 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, honoring Bob’s lifelong commitment to compassion and care.
