The purpose of this survey is to collect the views of the St. Louis area surveyors on the Mandatory Recording Bill HB2029, which will change the wording of 60.650.
The current law states (60.650):
“For the purpose of preserving evidence of land surveys, every surveyor who establishes, restores, or reestablishes one or more corners that create a new parcel of land shall file the results of such survey with the recorder of deeds in the county or counties in which the survey is situated within sixty days after the survey has been certified.”
HB2029 will change the law, removing the words “that create a new parcel of land” and will read:
“For the purpose of preserving evidence of land surveys, every surveyor who establishes, restores, or reestablishes one or more corners shall file the results of such survey with the recorder of deeds in the county or counties in which the survey is situated within sixty days after the survey has been certified.”
The St. Louis Chapter is not taking a stance on HB2029; we are looking to get your feedback on the bill. How do you feel this will affect you and the public either positively or negatively? The survey is anonymous and you do not have to answer all questions. We will forward the results and responses of the Survey to MSPS legislative committee.
