Survey Technician - Draftsman

Saint Louis' oldest Land Surveying firm is seeking an experienced CAD Designer to work as a Survey Technician. The position will require applicant to work in both the office and field. The position is geared for a motivated individual willing to grow with the changing skills and technology required to advance into a Land Surveyor. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail oriented individual. Applicant must be able to work in a team environment as a key member of a progressive survey firm. Applicant will be responsible for performing public records research and boundary calculations of parcels. Applicant will be required to utilize AutoCAD, more particularly Civil3D to prepare Boundary Surveys, ALTA Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Record Plats, Easement Documents (legals & sketches), along with other design surveys.

In addition the applicant must have strong technical skills and be able to assist field surveyors with the operation of total stations, along with other equipment and surveying technology. Responsibilities for the Survey Technician

Continually advance knowledge with upgrades in technology.

Maintain a good working knowledge of survey procedures, quality control, and legal principles.

Perform fieldwork to assist crews with their daily workload.

Requirements for the Survey Technician

Perform routine survey-related calculations using coordinate geometry software to solve for angles and distances for location of property corners and other related field points.
Operate Trimble survey equipment such as Robotic Total Stations, Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, and Surveyor Controllers.
Record survey field notes and sketches in the field book.


Requirements for the Surveyor

3+ years of experience in survey field operations.
PLS or LSIT is preferred.
Experience with Survey Controllers, Trimble Total Stations and GPS.
Must have a valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check.
Must be able obtain national security clearance.

Surveyor/Surveyor Lead
Description
St. Louis County Department of Transportation has an immediate opening for a Surveyor or Surveyor Lead depending on the successful candidate's qualifications.
This position will be responsible for performing survey work to produce topographic and boundary surveys with the aid of CADD software. The candidate will be required to collect, review, analyze and interpret survey field data along with directing the work of other surveyors. The job duties include field to finish responsibilities which include long corridor Right of Way property boundary surveys. The majority of staff in the survey section are professionally licensed and serve as mentors to support professional development.
This position will require enrollment as a Land Surveyor in Training or licensure as a Registered Land Surveyor with the Missouri Board of Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors. A minimum of one year of surveying experience is required along with a current, valid driver's license.
The starting salary will be between $40,539 -$54,496 annually and will be based on experience and qualifications. WHAT YOU’LL DO –

In this position you will be responsible for working with our GPS and related GUIDANCE PRODUCTS to identify and help solve performance improvement opportunities.
